Emergency Dental Appointments

We welcome walk-in-emergencies during normal business hours for new patients. We make it a priority to treat painful dental emergencies quickly so that your child can enjoy greater comfort.

If a true dental emergency happens after hours and your child is a patient of record at our practice, Dr. Karina can be reached by emergency phone number.

Dr. Karina was trained to handle wide range of dental emergencies with both baby and adult teeth, and managing various dental emergencies was one of the strongest aspects of her residency training.

What Is a True Dental Emergency?

In dentistry, a true dental emergency is a situation in which a child is experiencing dental pain, a broken tooth, or a broken restoration that causes sensitivity. We never want your child to experience pain or permanent damage to a tooth due to an accident or trauma.

If you are in doubt about whether your child is experiencing a true dental emergency, contact our Roswell, GA dental office and we will be happy to help.

If your child loses a baby tooth due to trauma, it is not likely that we will try to save the tooth, but we will make sure that their tissue is healthy and that they are on track for healing properly.

Lost Adult Tooth

If your child loses a secondary tooth because of sports or trauma, like falling off the swing or monkey bars, time is essential. Call us right away and let us know what has happened. In the meantime, try placing the tooth back into the gums and have your child hold it in place without swallowing it. You may need to help them with this.

Keep your child calm. Let them know that help is nearby and their cooperation will make assistance easier.

If it is too difficult to place the tooth back in the gums, keeping it moist is essential. Place it in a small container with your child’s saliva. You can also place it in a glass of slightly warmed milk.

When you arrive at our Roswell, GA dental office, we will do our best to save your child’s tooth and restore their comfort.

Facial Swelling

Any type of inflammation is a sign that something is wrong. Facial swelling can be a sign of an infection or an abscess. When you bring your child to Wonderland Pediatric Dentistry, we will take a digital image of the area and determine the cause of the swelling. Dr. Karina will address the problem with the proper treatment. In many cases, a pulpotomy (sometimes referred to as a "baby root canal") will solve the problem.

Other Dental Emergencies

Our entire team understands that your child is the most precious person in your life. If your little one loses a filling or a crown – or has any other type of dental emergency, give us a call. We will guide you through the process and schedule an appointment to make sure that your child gets gentle, high-quality dentistry that will restore their health and comfort.
